Everything You Need To Know about Pampachiri Stone Forest and Smurfs House

Have you ever thought about where the Smurfs actually live? Did you know that the village of the Smurfs is located in Perú? Pampachiri is the home of this legendary place. In its immediate vicinity there is an unreal rock forest which, with a great view of the landscape of this region, has become an interesting destination for fans of the Smurfs who like to combine this with nature.
It’s an incredible panorama, it looks unreal the rock formation known as Casa de los Pitufos; (House of the Smurfs), which resembles the mushroom-shaped houses of the comic series.

The stone forest of Pampachiri

These conical rock formations rise up to about 5 metres and offer an overwhelming view. Over the years, the wind and rain have paved the way for these formations, giving them a variety of silhouettes, which could also be from the magma of the nearby Qarwarasu and Sotaya volcanoes.

Location: Pampachiri is off the beaten-beaten track, it is located in the Andahuaylas Province in Southern Peru and is one of the poorest parts of the country. About 1000 people live in Pampachiri with only 3000 in the Pampachiri district. The main language is Quechua but you could just get by with Spanish.

Elevation: The small village of the Smurfs is in the middle of the Andes at an altitude of 3,400m (11,154 feet) / 3,700m (12,139 feet).

Some travel tips

Bring good boots or walking shoes, walk as flat as you can to prevent slipping. Walking sticks are quite helpful. Also bring plenty of suncream, the sun can be pretty unforgiving and there isn’t too much shelter at the rock forest.You should bring warm clothes if you do this.
